History and Mission

Lipometrix builds on extensive experience in analytical lipidomics and lipid metabolism know-how of the scientific founders - Profs Johan Swinnen, Rita Derua and Etienne Waelkens. Already for more than a decade, the founders have set-up the analytical infrastructure to carry out bulk lipidomics analysis, together with other lipid-based analysis methods, including MS-imaging. Supported by European and other funding (KU Leuven), a new state-of-the-art instrument was acquired, and Lipometrix officially launched in May 2019. Lipometrix is now an official KU Leuven Core facility. By continuously innovating and combining state-of-the-art technology and deep knowledge in lipid metabolism, we strive to provide cutting-edge lipidomics to support unique research insights.
